Title: TMS adaptation for studying neural coding of perception and action

Abstract: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation combined with adaptation designs (TMSa) provides a relatively recent method to study selective functional and representational aspects of targeted neuronal populations. It combines the functional specificity of adaptation designs with the strength of brain stimulation studies in revealing causality. I will demonstrate this with experiments on action coding as well as on perceptual decisions. Furthermore, I plan to discuss how modeling these findings poses challenges to our understanding of how adaptation and electromagnetic stimulation operate on a neural level.
