Title: Bilingualism: the “block of discord” of cognitive psychology

Abstract: Few topics have generated recently as much controversy as the possible influence of bilingualism on cognitive functions. In my presentation, I will analyse how different  approaches, traditions and methodologies can impact on the results of studies in this field. I will also discuss the importance of a less strict definition of bilingualism, including non- perfect, non-balanced late bilingualism as well as the role of a broader selection of the studied populations from all over the world.
